About

Hi, I am Shobana P. Rao, a cooking enthusiast who started this blog in March 2013. In this venture, I have been encouraged and supported by my husband, the writer, Prem Rao. who helps me administer this site.

Most of the dishes are vegetarian and cover cuisine from different parts of India, where I have lived all my life. I have made and tasted all the recipes myself ( except for a few of the guest posts). It was difficult at first to document recipes as this involved  moving from a largely "judging quantities by experience" approach to measuring ingredients as I got them ready for each recipe.

Obviously, all the recipes in this blog are not my own. Far from it. I have been collecting recipes over decades starting from cookery experts like Vimala Patil and later Tarla Dalal, Nita Mehta and more recently Sanjeev Kapoor, Nisha Madhulika and others. Many recipes have been learnt from my mother, aunts, family and friends. Due credit and a link is provided where a dish has been adapted from someone else's recipe.

To keep it uncomplicated, you will find all the recipes in one or the other of the following categories:-
  • Beverages
  • Chutneys & Pickles
  • For Breakfast
  • For Dessert
  • For Lunch of Dinner: Amchi Konkani
  • For Lunch of Dinner: North Indian
  • For Lunch of Dinner: South Indian
  • Snacks
  • Soups & Salads
  • Seafood
Quick Links have been provided for each of these. They in turn will lead you to a listing of all recipes in that categories with links to that particular recipe.

Each recipe is labelled at the bottom. These labels will lead you to more of the same. For example, if you were to click "For Breakfast" on a breakfast recipe, you would be led to all the others in this category, and so on. The search icon helps you search recipes based on ingredients too. Key in "Tomatoes" for example and you will be pointed to all recipes which use tomatoes.

I hope you will enjoy your visit to my blog. Do leave a comment or share the recipe using the social media icons placed there.

Thanks for dropping by!
