Food for Thought:
Long years ago, I learnt cooking from my mother who didn't use measurements, but approximations mastered through sheer experience. She didn't express quantities in "tablespoons" or " teaspoons" or even "cups." She was an excellent cook but found it difficult to explain a recipe. Now, many years later, I find myself in the same situation:)
Amma, I now understand how difficult it must have been for you to teach me!
The measurements used in most of my cooking has been through practice. I am now making a conscious effort to break down the recipe and explain it in a way which is easily understood.
I am grateful to my husband Prem Rao, Story Teller, for his encouragement and support as I begin this venture.
