SPROUTED MOONG SALAD

SPROUTED MOONG SALAD

My husband and I love salads and it's a good thing we do. At our age, indeed at all ages, we need to keep an eye on our cholesterol levels, don't we?

Salads are a wonderful, quick to fix means of tucking into some real healthy food.

Today, I would like to share an healthy easy to make salad made of Moong ( Green Gram). This is a popular salad in many Indian households. I am sure you will agree with me that apart from its nutritional value and taste, the Sprouted Moong Salad is a treat to the eyes too.

Ingredients:

  • Sprouted Moong, 1 cup
  • Tomato, chopped, 1
  • Green Chilly, chopped, 1
  • Lemon Juice, 1 tsp
  • Cabbage, chopped, 1/2 cup
  • Carrots, grated, 1/4 cup
  • Onion, chopped, 1
  • Coriander, chopped, 2 tsp
  • Salt, to taste

Method:

Steam the sprouted moong for about 5 minutes and cool it.
Add the rest of the ingredients.
Mix well
Garnish with coriander leaves
Serve cold

* Moong is usually sprouted by soaking it overnight in water and allowing it to germinate.
