GOBHI TAK-A-TAK

GOBHI TAK-A-TAK

This dish is described as "Cauliflower cooked in a spicy masala." I made this for two reasons. The first is that the name is catchy and the description sounded interesting. The second is that it comes from MasterChef Sanjeev Kapoor.

The only deviation I made from his recipe is that I have not deep fried the cauliflower florets. We had this dish with rotis and really liked it. It was tasty and not difficult to make, which is why I am sharing this recipe today.

Ingredients:
  • Cauliflower, medium, 1
  • Oil, 2 tbsp + for deep frying
  • Onion, medium, 1
  • Tomato, medium, 1
  • Cumin powder, 1 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste, 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder, 1/4 tsp
  • Yogurt, whisked, 1/2 cup
  • Chilli Sauce, 1 tsp
  • Green Capsicum, 1/4 large
  • Salt, to taste

Method:
Separate cauliflower into small florets and deep fry in sufficient oil.
Slice onion and tomato.
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan. Add cumin seeds and when they change colour add onion and saute for 1 minute
Add ginger garlic paste and tomato. Saute for another minute
Add turmeric powder and cumin powder and mix
Add yogurt and mix well
Add cauliflower and mix
Add chilli sauce and mix
Finally chop and add green capsicum
Add salt and mix
Serve hot.
