This is an easy to make light raita in which the main item is pineapple. As you can imagine the combination of pineapple with yogurt gives it a sweet and tangy taste which makes this a good accompaniment for any type of pulao or biriyani.

It is advisable to use thick curds to give the raita a richer texture. The amount of sugar you add will of course depend on the sweetness of the pineapple you use.

  • Fresh Yogurt, 1 and 1/4 cup
  • Chilli Powder, 1/4 tsp
  • Roasted Cumin Powder, 1/4 tsp
  • Sugar, 3 tsp or to taste
  • Black salt, to taste
  • Pineapple, chopped, 1 cup
  • Coriander leaves, chopped, for garnishing,

In a bowl, beat the yogurt till it is smooth
Add the chilli powder and the roasted cumin powder to the yogurt along with sugar and black salt.
Mix well
Now add the chopped pineapple and mix well.
Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves
Serve chilled as an accompaniment to pulaos or biriyanis
